dc.description.abstract2019 yılında kimliği hala tespit edilememiş olan Satoshi Nakamoto isimli kişi veya kişiler tarafından geliştirilen edilen ilk kripto para olan Bitcoin'in piyasaya sürülmesinden günümüze kripto varlık piyasası blok zincir tabanlı birçok alternatif kripto paranın katılımıyla katlanarak büyüdü. Kripto paralar, yapısını oluşturan blokzincir teknolojisi, sunduğu düşük transfer maliyetli hizmet ve doğası gereği merkezi olmayan yapısı nedeniyle sağladığı anonimlik ile geleneksel paralardan ve yatırım araçlarından ayrılmaktadır. Tüm bu farklılıklara rağmen kripto para birimleri dünya genelinde büyük ilgi görmüş ve bu durum Ocak 2023 itibariyle kripto para piyasası hacminin 826 milyar dolara ulaşmasını sağlamıştır. Bu ilgi gelişmiş ülkelerle karşılaştırıldığında Türkiye'nin özellikle çoğu zaman lider konumda olduğu görülmüş ve bu popülerlik bizi Türkiye'deki yatırımcıların özelliklerini incelemeye yöneltmiştir. Bu kapsamda hazırladığımız çalışmamız, yatırımcıların finansal okuryazarlık düzeyleri ile kripto varlıklara yatırım yapma eğilimleri arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Araştırmada online anket yöntemi kullanılmış olup, Mart 2022 tarihi itibariyle 409 kişinin katılımı ile veri toplama işlemi tamamlanmıştır. Toplanan veriler, Stata adlı bir istatistik programı aracılığıyla en küçük kareler (OLS) adı verilen doğrusal regresyon modeli ve ikili sonuçlar regresyon modelleri kullanılarak analiz edildi. Analiz sonuçlarına göre kripto para sahipliği ile finansal okuryazarlık düzeyi arasında pozitif bir ilişki olduğu görülmekle birlikte, finansal okuryazarlık düzeyinin kripto sahipliği üzerinde belirleyici olmadığı gözlemlenmiştir. Ayrıca kripto yatırımcıları genellikle 26-35 yaş arası bekar çalışan erkeklerden oluşmakta ve gelir düzeyinin kripto edinme eğilimini olumlu yönde etkilediği tespit edilmiştir.
dc.description.abstractSince the initial release of bitcoin which is the first cryptocurrency in 2009 by an anonymous name Satoshi Nakamoto, crypto asset market has grown exponentially with the participation of larger number of blockchain-based cryptocurrencies, in the recent years. Cryptocurrencies distinguish from conventional monetary and investment instruments in terms of the blockchain technology that makes up its structure, the low transfer cost service it offers, and the anonymity it provides due to its decentralized nature. Despite all these differences, cryptocurrencies have attracted great attention around the world, and this has enabled the crypto money market volume to reach 826 billion dollars as of January 2023. Especially when this interest is compared with developed countries, it has been seen that Turkey is in the leading position most of the time, and this popularity has led us to examine the characteristics of investors in Turkey. Our study in this context, aims to examine the relationship between investors' financial literacy levels and their tendency to invest in crypto assets. The online survey method was used in the research, and as of March 2022, data collection was completed with the participation of 409 people. The data collected was analyzed by using linear regression model named ordinary least squares (OLS) and binary outcomes regression models via a statistic program called Stata. According to the results of the analysis, it has been observed that there is a positive relationship between the ownership of cryptocurrencies and the financial literacy level, but it has been confirmed that the financial literacy score is not a determinant on the ownership of crypto. In addition, crypto investors are generally composed of single working men between the ages of 26-35, and it has been found that income level positively affects the tendency to acquire crypto.
