dc.description.abstractIn dem Aufsatz geht es um Verstehen im interkulturellen Kontext am Beispiel des Frankfurter Reiseberichts von Ahmet Haşim, in dem er seine Erlebnisse, Eindrücke und Begegnungen, während eines Sanatorium-aufenthalts in Frankfurt (1932) aus der Perspektive eines Fremden erzählt. Es wird die Erzählung ‚bir zihniyet farkı (ein Unterschied in der Mentalität)‘ aufgegriffen und die interkulturelle Sichtweise, die Inkongruenz zwischen dem Gemeinten und dem Verstandenen in der Kommunikation thematisiert und aus der interkulturellen Hermeneutik versucht zu analysieren. Es stellt sich heraus, dass eine Äußerung sowohl als ein Angebot, wie auch als Kompliment bzw. eine Liebenswürdigkeit interpretiert werden kann, und dass die kulturspezifischen Erfahrungen beim Verstehen eine zentrale Rolle spielen.
dc.description.abstractIn this article, understanding in intercultural contexts is discussed using the example of the Frankfurt journal by Ahmet Haşim in which he relates his experiences and impressions in Frankfurt (1932) – where he is hospitalized in a sanatorium – from the perspective of a stranger. In the story ‚bir zihniyet farkı (A difference in mentality)‘ a cross-cultural perspective, the incongruity between what is meant and what is understood in communication is discussed, and an attempt is made to analyze it on the basis of intercultural hermeneutics. It turns out that an utterance can be interpreted as an offer as well as a compliment or pleasantry, and that culture-specific experiences play a central role in comprehension.
