| dc.description.abstract | This master's thesis focuses on the impact of the elements of Positive Psychology and the influence of bicultural spaces and places on bicultural identity. Specifically, it examines the perception and consolidation of bicultural identity through a qualitative data analysis of interviews with bicultural German-Turkish students. The focus is on (i) identifying identity-influencing elements of Positive Psychology and (ii) determining the relevance of bicultural spaces and places in relation to identity perception and consolidation. This work shows that the elements of Positive Psychology, especially the use of one's strengths and resources, e.g. the mediator function between both cultures (bridging function), can be considered as an effective tool for a better awareness and consolidation of bicultural identity. Moreover, the importance and conducive effect of bicultural places and spaces on the well-being and identity negotiation of the interviewee bicultural students was also demonstrated. Consequently, these spaces could favor the consolidation process of bicultural identities. | |
| dc.description.abstract | Bu yüksek lisans tezi, Pozitif Psikoloji unsurlarının ve iki kültürlü mekanların ve yerlerin iki kültürlü kimlik üzerindeki etkisini ele almaktadır. Spesifik olarak, iki kültürlü kimliğin algılanması ve pekiştirilmesi, iki kültürlü Alman-Türk öğrencilerle yapılan görüşmelerin nitel veri analizi yoluyla incelenmektedir. Çalışmanın odak noktası (i) Pozitif Psikolojinin kimliği etkileyen unsurlarının belirlenmesi ve (ii) iki kültürlü mekân ve yerlerin kimlik algısı ve pekiştirilmesi ile ilişkisinin tespit edilmesidir. Bu çalışma, Pozitif Psikoloji unsurlarının, özellikle de kişinin kendi güçlü yönlerini ve kaynaklarını kullanmasının, örneğin her iki kültür arasındaki arabuluculuk işlevinin (köprü işlevi), iki kültürlü kimliğin daha iyi algılanması ve pekiştirilmesi için etkili bir araç olarak görülebileceğini göstermektedir. Ayrıca, iki kültürlü mekanların ve alanların, görüşülen iki kültürlü öğrencilerin refahı ve kimlik müzakereleri üzerindeki önemi ve faydalı etkisi de ortaya konmuştur.
