Zum studieren in "die heimat": abwanderung von Türkeistämmigen der zweiten generation motive und erfahrungen

Abstract

This master thesis focuses on people of Turkish origin who are born and grew up in Germany and who decided, after completing their higher school degree, to study in Turkey. In this context two different groups can be distinguished. The first group migrated due to a study program or scholarship. The second group decided on studying as a result of migrating to Turkey. Moreover, the particular focus of this thesis shall be on motives of these groups to migrate as well as on their environment and experiences before and after their migration. For this assessment ten qualitative, semi-structured interviews were conducted. By means of different categories these interviews were then content-analytically evaluated. The categories resulted deductively from the interview guideline on the one hand and developed inductively due to the interview material on the other. In summary, the thesis is composed of three parts. Initially, there will be an overview of transnational migration, which is associated with the migration process of the inspected group. Furthermore, it will be specified on the transnational migration of the second generation of people with Turkish origin. The second and main part of the thesis bases on the interview material. Firstly, the people’s different motives for migrating will be elucidated. Secondly, the different proceedings will be outlined which made studying possible for them. Eventually, the various aspects will be illustrated which influenced their decision to migrate to Turkey. These are for example their social surrounding and experiences of discrimination. In addition, expositions about their lives after the migration will be presented. In the final part of the thesis there will be a detailed analysis of two of the interview partners. One finding within this research project is that the motives for migration mostly have an emotional root. This emotion was also reflected throughout the respondents’ narrations of Germany and Turkey. Furthermore, it was stated that the student status facilitated a nearly unobstructed and carefree migration to Turkey. For example, they are being financially taken care and therefore don’t have to take responsibility in this regard. This fact distinguishes them from other people of Turkish origin in Germany who are intending to migrate. Another advantage of the student status is that they have the opportunity to travel to Germany – several times and for longer periods of time – during the semester break. This has an important function in their transnational lifestyle: being able to demand from every place exactly what enables a happier life for them.

Bu yüksek lisans tezinde, Almanya'da doğup büyüyen ve liseden mezun olduktan sonra yüksek öğrenime Türkiye’de devam etmeye karar vermiş olan Türkiye kökenli üniversite öğrencileri incelenmiştir. İki grup halinde incelenen kişilerden, birinci grup çalışmaları ya da bursları dolayısıyla Türkiye'ye göç eden yüksek öğrenim öğrencileridir. İkinci grup ise Türkiye'ye göçlerinin sonucunda yüksek öğrenime başlayan öğrencilerdir. Çalışmanın odağında örneklemin göç öncesi ve göç sonrası deneyimleriyle grubun göç motivasyonu yer almaktadır. Araştırmada 10 üniversite öğrencisiyle nitel görüşmeler yapılmış olup, görüşmeler neticesinde kategorik içerik analizinde bulunulmuştur. Üç temel bölümden oluşan çalışmanın ilk bölümünde transnasyonel göç ve bu kavram ışığında araştırma grubu hakkında genel bilgiler bulunulmuştur. İkinci nesil Türklerin ulusötesi göçünün bahsedilen bölümde görüşmelere dair bilgiler verilmiştir. Sonraki bölümde kişilerin Türkiye’de yüksek öğrenimine sebep olan farklı göç güdüleri ve farklı göç deneyimleri endüktif ve dedüktif muhakeme yöntemleri birlikte kullanılarak açıklanmıştır. Sonrasında göçe sebep olan etmenler, kişilerin sosyal ortamları, ayrımcılık vb. deneyimleriyle Türkiye’ye göç etme kararlarını etkileyen faktörlerin yanı sıra göç sonrası yaşamları ele alınmıştır. Tezin son bölümünde grupta yer alan iki kişinin ayrıntılı bir analizi bulunmaktadır. Çalışmada araştırma grubunun göçmesinin kökeninde duygusal sebeplerin çoğunlukta olduğu görülmüştür. Odak görüşmeler Almanya ve Türkiye hakkında karşılaştırmalı ilgi çekici konuları ortaya çıkarmıştır. Bununla beraber “öğrencilik” statüsünün Türkiye’ye sorunsuz ve kaygısız bir şekilde göç etmelerine ortam sağladığı tespit edilmiştir. Öğrenci burslarının ve ailelerinin maddi desteklerinin öğrencilere rahatlık sağladığı ve herhangi bir maddi, ailevi vb. sorumluluklarının olmadığı kanaatine varılmıştır. Türkiye’deki yaz ve kış dönemindeki sömestr tatilleri öğrenciler için Almanya’ya sık aralıklarla seyahat ve orada uzun süre kalmaya imkân tanımaktadır. Söz konusu durum öğrencilerin transnasyonal hayatlarını kendileri için imkânlara çevirerek mevcut hallerinden maksimum faydayı sağlamalarına sebep olduğu anlaşılmıştır
