| dc.description.abstract | Bu çalışma 2000 – 2018 yılları arasında birleşmelerde ve devralmalarda kullanılan farklı ödeme metotlarının, Borsa İstanbul'da işlem gören alıcı ve hedef şirketlerin hisse fiyatlarına olan kısa vadeli etkisini araştırmıştır. Toplam örneklem 304 tamamlanmış birleşme ve devralmadan oluşmakta olup, nakit ödeme ya da hisse takası ödeme metoduna göre kategorize edilmiştir ve olay çalışması yöntemi kullanılarak incelenmiştir. En geniş olay penceresi işlem açıklanmadan önceki 20 iş günü ile açıklandıktan sonraki 20 iş günlük periyodu kapsamaktadır. Açıklama günü çevresindeki günlük anormal getiriler ve farklı olay pencerelerine göre kümülatif anormal getiriler analiz edilmiştir. Her iki taraf için de, günlük anormal getirilerde istatiksel olarak anlamlı getiriler bulunmamıştır. Ancak kümülatif anormal getirilerde istatistiksel olarak anlamlı getiriler bulunmuştur. Alıcı şirketler için hem hisse takasında hem de nakit ödemede farklı seviyelerde istatiksel olarak anlamlı getiriler bulunmuştur ama hisse takasındaki getiri oranları, nakit ödemeye göre daha yüksektir. Ancak, 2009 – 2018 yılları arasındaki işlemlerde, nakit ödeme metodunda istatiksel olarak daha fazla getiri bulunmuştur. Hedef şirketlerde ise en kısa olay penceresi olan [-2, +2]'de her iki ödeme metodunda da istatiksel anlamlı getiriler bulunmuştur. 2009 – 2018 yılları arasında ise, yine sadece nakit ödeme yönteminde istatiksel olarak anlamlı getiriler bulunmuştur. | |
| dc.description.abstract | This study analyzed the short-term effects of different payment methods used in mergers and acquisitions on the share prices of acquiring and target companies listed on Borsa Istanbul between 2000 and 2018. The total sample consisted of 304 completed mergers and acquisitions, categorized based on cash payment and stock exchange methods, and analyzed by using the event study methodology. The largest event window covers the period of 20 trading days before and 20 trading days after the announcement date. Daily abnormal returns around the announcement date and cumulative abnormal returns in different time intervals were analyzed. For both sides, no statistically significant returns were found in daily abnormal returns. However, statistically significant returns were found in cumulative abnormal returns. In acquiring companies, statistically significant returns were found at different levels in both the stock exchange and cash payment, but the rates of returns in the stock exchange were higher than in cash payment. Nevertheless, in the transactions between 2009 and 2018, the acquiring companies had a statistically higher return on the cash payment rather than the stock exchange. In target companies, statistically significant returns were found at both payment methods in the shortest event window of [-2, +2]. Between 2009 and 2018, again statistically significant returns were found only in the cash payment. | |
