    HOW NEW ARE THE METHODS AND TOOLS ON NEW MEDIA RESEARCHS? A META ANALYSIS STUDY ON GRADUATE THESES IN TURKEY

    New media remaina keyword in both communication and interdisciplinary fields. When we look at the academic studies conducted in the field of new media, it is still remarkable that traditional research methods and tools are still dominant in the search for answers to research questions where the research tool is the subject or object. In this study, the approach in the world of new media research methods, new methods of seeking touched on and practices in communication studies in Turkeybetween the years 2013-2018 new mediaresearch methods of the graduate theses were evaluated by document review and metaanalysis method. New media research methods which are being used globally, are being used concurrently by the academics in Turkey, and also as best practice cases. However, it has been found that these innovative approaches often do not correspond to the level of postgraduate theses, but rather use traditional research methods and tools.It is suggested that the research methods courses should be expanded to include new media research methods, and that graduate students should be educated and encouraged in the use and access of new tools, and that they should be informed about the limitations, ethical problems, opportunities and risks of the new methods and tools so that theapplications of the new methods and tools in graduate theses will increase.
