Öğe A New Circular Intuitionistic Fuzzy MCDM: A Case of Covid-19 Medical Waste Landfill Site Evaluation(IEEE, 2021) Cakir, Esra; Tas, Mehmet Ali; Ulukan, ZiyaSince the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the use of protective medical products has tremendously increased. The wastes generated by used products pose a threat to public health. Selection of alternative landfill sites to be determined for medical waste is a challenging task as there are several criteria to consider. Fuzzy multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) approaches can be employed to overcome this problem. In this study, the landfill sites evaluation for Covid-19 pandemic medical waste is investigated. Decision-makers give their judgments with intuitionistic fuzzy numbers and a novel circular intuitionistic fuzzy MCDM approach is developed for evaluating sites. As a contribution to the literature, this study extends the usage of circular intuitionistic fuzzy sets (C-IFS) in MCDM approaches by proposing defuzzification functions. The application of the proposed method is intended to guide future C-IFS MCDM methodologies.Öğe A New Weighting Method in Fuzzy Multi-criteria Decision Making: Selected Element Reduction Approach (SERA)(Springer International Publishing Ag, 2023) Cakir, Esra; Tas, Mehmet Ali; Demircioglu, EmreIn this study, Selected Element Reduction Approach (SERA) is proposed for weighting criteria in decision-making problems. The new method is based on the change caused by the reduction of a criterion in a fuzzy decision matrix. An overall ranking is obtained with the fuzzy evaluations of the decision-makers. After, the effect of a selected criterion on the results is calculated by excluding it from the evaluation. Accordingly, the criterion that creates the greatest change becomes the criterion with the highest weight. The values obtained as a result of the method are directly proportional to the weights of the criteria. The new method has been introduced to the literature with the application of personnel selection case.Öğe Circular Intuitionistic Fuzzy Analytic Hierarchy Process for Remote Working Assessment in Covid-19(Springer International Publishing Ag, 2022) Cakir, Esra; Tas, Mehmet AliThe Covid-19 pandemic has caused many revolutionary changes in business life. Thanks to the remote working opportunity in some sectors and limited areas, some leading companies were able to continue their activities and aimed to prevent the spread of the epidemic in the business environment. Although remote working is very advantageous due to economic and health conditions, some challenges can also be mentioned in terms of efficient and effective business management. Evaluation of these challenges may enable the pursuit of a holistic management strategy. In this study, the challenges of the remote working method for businesses are evaluated. Circular Intuitionistic Fuzzy Sets (C-IFS), which is a fairly new fuzzy set concept, and the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), which is a widely used multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) method, are proposed as a novel hybrid methodology. IFS is used to reflect linguistic expressions of decision makers' assessments. The proposed methodology is implemented to investigate the compliance of tourism enterprises with the concept of remote work and to increase the use of the C-IFS AHP methodology.Öğe Neutrosophic Fuzzy MARCOS Approach for Sustainable Hybrid Electric Vehicle Assessment(IEEE, 2021) Cakir, Esra; Tas, Mehmet Ali; Ulukan, ZiyaIn smart city planning, activities that minimize the damage to the environment are important for a sustainable environment. Therefore, municipalities have tended to change their vehicle preferences for sustainable environmental goals. In recent years, the use of hybrid electric vehicles has been on the agenda in terms of reducing environmental pollution. Municipalities need some criteria and expert opinion to choose among the alternatives. The contribution of this paper is to propose a new single valued neutrosophic fuzzy integrated MARCOS method for fuzzy multi-criteria decision making problems. The uncertain decisions of experts are included to MARCOS method to express the uncertainties in human opinions, therefore, the single valued neutrosophic fuzzy numbers are preferred in terms of truth, indeterminacy and falsity membership. The method is used to rank the alternatives keeping determined criteria by DMs in consideration. It finds ideal and anti-ideal solutions by decision matrix, and it uses these values to generate the utility degrees of the alternatives. The proposed methodology is applied on sustainable hybrid electric vehicle selection problem for a municipality in Turkey. The results are comparatively represented.Öğe Ranking Triangular and Trapezoidal Fuzzy MARCOS Methods on Road Risk(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2021) Tas, Mehmet Ali; Cakir, EsraRoad risk analysis studies provide a benefit to reduce and prevent traffic accidents. In addition to many techniques, multi-criteria decision making methods and fuzzy logic have been implemented to handle the uncertainties and assess the risks. In this study, a fuzzy MARCOS method, which is a recent multi-criteria decision making method, is applied in the road risk analysis study. Trapezoidal fuzzy numbers are adapted to express the fuzziness in linguistic expressions. 38 alternative sections are evaluated for risk according to six criteria. The results of the proposed method are compared to the results of the triangular fuzzy MARCOS method in the literature. It is observed that the eight ranks with the highest risk in the rankings of the alternatives of two fuzzy methods are preserved. It is aimed that this study increases the use of fuzzy MARCOS method in multi-criteria decision making studies. © 2021 IEEE.
