Müslüman toplumlarda islamofobi: Türkiye örneği

Abstract

Batı'da yoğun biçimde tartışılan İslamofobi sorunu sadece Batı'lı toplumlara özgü bir durum değildir. Kolonyal tecrübe yaşamış ya da radikal bir modernizasyona tabi tutulmuş Müslüman ülkelerde de bu sorun yoğun biçimde gözlenmektedir. Bu açıdan bakıldığında Müslüman ve Batılı toplumlarda İslamofobi probleminin bazı benzerlik ve farklılıklar taşıdığı görülmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı İslamofobi'nın sadece Batılı toplumlara özgü bir durum olmadığını Türkiye örneği üzerinden göstermektir. Çalışmada Türkiye'deki İslamofobik eğilimlerin tarihsel kökenlerine ilişkin bir çerçeve çizilecek ve bu sorunun genelde medya özelde de mizah üzerinden nasıl yeniden üretildiği sorunsallaştırılacaktır

Islamophobia is a term which is widely discussed and analysed in Western context. Yet one may claim that Islamophobic attitudes and policies are not specific to Western countries or non-Muslim majority countries. In this regard Turkey and its troubled relation with Islam and Muslims offer a valuable case study to analyse Islamophobia in Muslim majority societies. There are similarities and divergences when analysing Islamophobia in Muslim majority and non-Muslim majority societies. There are also different factors at play when we look at the Islamophobia in different Muslim majority countries such as Turkey or Egypt. In this regard historical factors such as colonial experience or self-imposed radical modernization-westernization processes play a significant role. the aim of this study is to analyse the phenomenon of Islamophobia in Turkey, its historical background and how it is constantly constructed and reproduced by Turkish satirical magazines
