His legal thought which was formed by adopting the views of Historian Law School evolved into a purposive, pragmatic and combative perspective over time. Jhering wrote his work named Zweck im Recht (The Purpose of Law) within the framework of these approaches to law. With this work, the author served as a bridge to the formation of the Interest Law School in Germany. Questioning the purpose for which law was formed, what the source of law was, what its existence served and centering on the society, Jhering directed his purposive approach to the state, society, individual and morality, starting from law.
