Seyhan Havzası’nda düşük akımların analizi
(Balıkesir Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü Dergisi, 2025) Baysal, Selman; Yılmaz, Selahattin Utku; Önöz, Bihrat; Kaçar, Furkan Sencer
In this study low-flow analysis was conducted at various measurement stations within the Seyhan Basin. Low-flow frequency analysis was performed to estimate the drought risks in the short, medium, and long term using annually-averaged minimum discharge values corresponding to durations of d = 1, 7, 10, and 15 days. Low-flow estimates for different return periods were obtained using both two-parameter distributions, namely Log-Normal (LN2), Gamma (G2), Weibull (W2), Exponential (E2), Gumbel (GEV-I), and Logistic (L2), and three-parameter distributions, namely Generalized Extreme Value (GEV-III), Log-Normal (LN3),Pearson Type III (P3), Log-Pearson Type III (LP3), and Generalized Logistic (GL3). The goodness-of-fit between the various probability distributions and observed time series was investigated using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov (K–S) test. To observe trends in the low flows estimated by these distributions, various statistical tests were applied, including the Mann-Kendall (MK), Trend-Free Pre-Whitening (TFPW), and innovative trend analysis (ITA). The results obtained using measurements from six different stations indicate that the most accurate estimations for the Seyhan Basin were obtained using the P3, GEV-III, and LN3 distributions. At the designated significance level, a decreasing trend was observed at three stations. For the remaining stations where no statistically significant trend was identified, ITA tests revealed a negative trend. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the flow rates measured at these stations have substantially decreased, suggesting a potential drought risk in the region.

Effects of Model Spatial Structure and Basin Characteristics on the Performance of Three Hydrologic Models
(Water Resources Management, 2025) Kançar, Furkan Sencer; Bayhan, Kayhan; Gassner, Andreas; Ergun, Enes; Halat, Oğuzhan Murat; Balov, Mustafa Nuri; Demirel, Mahmud Sami; Avcuoğlu, Muhammet Bahattin; Babagiray, Salih; Calli, Süleyman Selim; Ghasempour, Roghayeh; Kirca, V. Hydrologic model selection plays a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability and accuracy of hydrologic modeling studies. This decision is mostly based on availability or researcher’s prior experience rather on a systematic evaluation of model structure and basin characteristics. This study aims to address this problem by comparing the effect of basin characteristics and hydrologic model structures on the streamflow prediction performance of lumped and distributed hydrologic models. For that, two lumped hydrologic models, Genie Rural à 4 Paramètres Journalier (GR4J) and Technische Universität Wien (TUW), and a distributed hydrologic model, mesoscale Hydrologic Model (mHM), are calibrated and validated in Dandalas subbasin, where Karacasu dam construction has taken place from 1998 to 2012, and in the karstic Çakıtsuyu subbasin. The model calibration was performed using the daily Nash-Sutcliffe Efficiency (NSE) as objective function whereas the validation performance was assessed with both daily and monthly NSE and Kling-Gupta Efficiency (KGE) metrics. Our results revealed the mHM model outperformed the other two models in both the calibration and validation periods in the karstic Çakıtsuyu subbasin, achieving the highest daily NSE during calibration (0.72) and validation (0.61). Notably, GR4J outperformed in Dandalas validation (KGE: 0.53 daily, 0.66 monthly). The superior performance of mHM can be attributed to its multi-parameter regionalization approach, detailed soil structure up to six horizons, elaborated flow routing scheme and representation of geological features using multiple karstic domains

Does Islamic banking have a future in Germany? Survey on German Muslims perceptions
(Journal of Economics, Finance and Accounting (JEFA), 2020) Yılmaz Arslan, Sena; Çatak, Çiydem
Purpose– Islamic banking is a new concept in Germany. Islamic banks in Germany aspire being the hub for Islamic finance in Europe and see their potential in the growing Muslim population. This paper aims to contribute to the limited literature from the target group’s perspective, to analyze their perceptions and to test whether the promised potential exists in reality. Methodology- An online survey with questions developed according to the characteristics of awareness, relative advantage, complexity, uncertainty and promotion was conducted to Muslims living in Germany. Findings- The results show that there is awareness but little knowledge towards Islamic banking and its’ concepts due to insufficient communication. The main reason attracting to Islamic banking is religion. In this regard peer groups play an important role. Furthermore, the findings indicate future potential for Islamic banking Germany. Conclusion– In general there is a positive perception towards Islamic banking. Islamic banks have a rich customer portfolio and have the potential to increase their market share in Germany by offering suitable products and providing easy access to these products.

Durchsuchung von Strafgefangenen unter vollständiger Entkleidung im türkischen und deutschen Recht
(Nomos Verlagsgesellschaft, 2025) Halhallı, Ozan Emin; Schuster, Susanne
